Within the Sundays River region of the Eastern Cape lies the Addo Elephant National Park. Today this park is sanctuary to over 450 elephants, Cape buffalo, black rhino, a variety of antelope species, as well as the dung beetle, found almost exclusively in Addo, where they roam in peace.
The park, the third largest in South Africa, offers a wide range of game viewing and outdoor activities, which include horse-riding, guided walking, hiking and 4×4 trails and a picnic area for day visitors. Nothing could be better if you are a bush lover.
Addo is host to festivals throughout the year such as the annual Rose Festival in October and the Kirkwood Wildlife Festival in June.
